Neuroethics and Solutions

Issues regarding the impact of neuroscience on society are a problem field of Neuroethics research. It can be identified as an intersection of neuroscience, philosophy and ethics. For this reason it concerns a brain researching and its influence on human’s self-understanding as a person (neuronal bases of morality), development of social policies (educational potential of a child), and pure experiment (use of laboratory animals and human subjects in a study). The answer on a question how and where neuro researchers should represent the fruits of such studies to the general public is still demanded. Neuroethics is an extremely delicate area of study where each step must be thought out. For this case, the scientists should make every effort to examine the ethical aspects of Neuroethics in order to make the best solutions for appropriate developing and using proper results of researches for the benefit of whole society.

Neuroethics is comparably new, original study, which cause debates that consist of discussing the fundamental features of neurophysiology ethics. Such key concepts as moral and psychological liberty, responsibility philosophy, and spiritual independence of a personality are taken into account. It is important to understand how far scientists as well as the authorities (which are, undoubtedly, deeply interested in such developments) can move trying to influence the human mind and will. The question of humanity attracts focus.
In the near future criminal trial may become one of the leading structures of government that use neurodevelopment. According to our point of view, it has a right to deal with this issue. Moral responsibility should be an integral part of a healthy society. Unfortunately, not everyone understands this conception and it leads to serious crimes. Talking about a man who killed several children, can we hesitate and give up using mind-reading or lie-detection because of lack of the right to adopt neurotechnology methods, discussing inhumane intentions? We believe that such decisions should depend on the severity of a crime and the detailed description of the perpetrator. Utilitarianism can become a mainstay in the adoption and application of designed solutions. On the one hand we have offender’s benefit and constitutional rights; on the other hand it is a comfort and protection of innocent potential victims. According to this theory of solution-making process, the state authorities are obliged to make a decision in favor of the greater good, which undoubtedly includes a well-being and harmony of society.
Taking a moral decision, a person can be guided by the principle of deontologism, or moral duty. If it is necessary to act in particular way, it would be better for everyone without exception. If a criminal trial need to get the truth from a criminal, it must do this. The decision of applying neurotechnology methods may have place in those cases where the offender doesn’t leave any choice. For example, this may occur in the case of mental disorder or failure to cooperate with an investigation. Just neurotestings can give an opportunity to find out a potentially dangerous human to society. We suggest that in the nearest future, these techniques will be enough widely applicable. No one can live in society but not to obey its laws and to be free from it. If a person went against the orders of society, he or she must be prepared to experience the serious security methods.
In the further development an attention should be focused primarily on a safety of mentioned technologies. Such approach will allow the use it without causing a serious mental harm to prisoners. In the case of alleged high error repeated test could be always possible to assign. Minimizing the negative effects should be considered primary.
Neurotechnologies could be a powerful tool in protecting an order as well as measures of great evil. Using them it is significantly important to remember that there is a line that should be determined immediately and not to be crossed. The need for government developments should not deprive of humanity and mercy those services that are going to use the privileges of neuroscience. The ethical side of the issue must be considered in taking the most difficult solutions.
